Thursday Memes

This week's question:
Do you multi-task when you read? Do other things like stirring things on the stove, brushing your teeth, watching television, knitting, walking, et cetera?
Or is it just me, and you sit and do nothing but focus on what you’re reading?
(Or, if you do both, why, when, and which do you prefer?)
My answer:
Me..... Multitask?  Is this a trick question? I'm lucky that I can read and turn the pages at the same time lol.

Seriously, the only thing I can do is have the TV on, tuned to a cable news station with the volume low and if I am so engrossed into the story, I don't even realize it is on.

From Lori's site:
It struck me recently how much time I spend on this computer every day, blogging, chatting or playing games on Facebook, emailing friends and relatives, making cards and calendars, etc. etc. etc.
We depend on each other for book reviews, giveaways, encouragement, friendship, but how well do we really know each other?
So that is what this meme is all about, getting to know each other.
1. Author Jessica Park commented this week on Facebook that "Naming characters takes me almost as long as it does to write the book." which led me to start thinking about names. Is there a story behind your first name?
Not really.  Only that the first letter of my name is the first letter of my mother's.  And my sister's first letter is the same as it was for my father.

2. Do you think parents today give more thought to the names they give their children than our parents did?
Interesting question.  Really not sure of the answer but if I had to guess I would say parents today give more thought in naming their children.

3. What is the most unusual child's name you have noticed recently?
The person I am thinking of is not a child but a local news reporter and I never can pronounce it and hope I come close to spelling it.  It's Nnewka

I prefer to read and read alone. I prefer no interruptions. However, that doesn't always happen for me. Sometimes I have to multi-task!

I like peace and quiet when I read. And that is a different name!

Multi-task? Of course. I love to read & (when I'm not helping with the kids homework) always read while I'm cooking, watching tv with hubby (I don't like what he watches), and practically everything else (though I do remind myself not to read while driving or visiting). Yes, I'm really that bad!

Mostly, I like a quiet place to read.

I can multi-task if I need to. And I do sometimes have music playing in the background while I read. But the older I get, the harder it is to concentrate on more than one thing at a time.

Oh, I can multitask.. I cook or feed my baby when I read. Ofcourse I prefer to read with nothing else to do but with a 6 month old that is near impossible.

I multi-task when I listen to audiobooks. Sometimes I do read during commericals, but would rather just read.

Traveling around your blog always makes me smile. I have felt both Dopey and Grumpy for the past two weeks because my internet connection is having major issues. Programs keep crashing, I can't visit because the internet keeps dropping. Sorry, listen to me whine. Jeff promises he is going to get to the bottom of it this weekend. The internet people say it could be a variety of things from the modem dying to my netbook processor dying. Both are not good.

I hope to see you for coffee tomorrow. I am having my daughter bake up something yummy to share :)

I multitask with audio/kindle and Audible all the time... whenever, wherever I can.
Ah- initials... my son's match mine MSE.
Well at least the news reporter's name has "new" in it... that seems sort of fitting.
