GIVEAWAY ENTRY PAGE "LEFT NEGLECTED" ENDED

JULY 29th to AUGUST 12th, 2011

LEFT NEGLECTED
by LISA GENOVA, Ph.D.

SYNOPSIS (borrowed from B&N):
Sarah Nickerson, like any other working mom, is busy trying to have it all. One morning while racing to work and distracted by her cell phone, she looks away from the road for one second too long. In that blink of an eye, all the rapidly moving parts of her over-scheduled life come to a screeching halt. After a brain injury steals her awareness of everything on her left side, Sarah must retrain her mind to perceive the world as a whole. In so doing, she also learns how to pay attention to the people and parts of her life that matter most.
In this powerful and poignant New York Times bestseller, Lisa Genova explores what can happen when we are forced to change our perception of everything around us. Left Neglected is an unforgettable story about finding abundance in the most difficult of circumstances, learning to pay attention to the details, and nourishing what truly matters.

  4. I am thankful that I do not know anyone with a brain injury. I'd hate for anyone I love to suffer. Heck, I hate for anyone I don't know to suffer.

  36. My Uncle and Aunt were in a terrible car accident that left my Uncle brain injured. He was functioning but at around a 12year old level sort of, somethings better others not. Sometimes he knew how much he'd changed, other times not. (he couldn't remember once he woke up from the coma, that he smoked.)

The thing was he was changed. Just not the same person. Still wonderful and all, but just different. He functioned that was for over 20 years.

  39. Yes, I do know someone with a brain injury. My brother-in-law was in a car wreck years ago. It left him in really bad shape, and he is now like a child in mind. He has spent most of his life in a nursing home. Really very sad. Love to read this book. Please enter me. Thanks!

  45. Yes, I do and did! I had a son in a near drowning when he was 13 months old. He was visiting his grandparents and he fell in the columbia river and was dead for over 20 minutes. A very long nightmare story. He is not here anymore and lived to be 18 with severe cerebral palsy and was unable to do anything for himself. I could write a book. I am also a nurse and have taken care of and met many people with this problem. It affects the entire family.
