Monday Memes

MONDAY

Photobucket
Hosted by Miz B at Should Be Reading
This week's question:
Which do you prefer: Adult -or- Young Adult books? Or, both? Why?
My answer:
I prefer Adult books for a couple of reasons, but then I could be wrong since I haven't read a YA book since I was in Junior High, which is one reason.  I have been reading adult books since High School.  And I feel that I can relate to the characters and/or story lines in Adult books more so than YA.

Mailcheck
February is being hosted by Laura from Library of Clean Reads
Mailbox Monday was created by Marcia of The Printed Page and is now on tour.
According to Marcia, “Mailbox Monday is the gathering place for readers to share the books that came into their house last week. Warning: Mailbox Monday can lead to envy, toppling TBR piles and humongous wish lists.”
Before sharing my mailbox, I would like to give a big THANKS to Laura for taking the time to host one of my favorite memes this month.  She did a wonderful job!!  Thank you Laura!!

Another not so great month.  But I did find that instead of reading books in the order received and reading purely on my mood, I did finish 3 books in 1 week.  So that experiment did work and plan on doing it again for the month of March and hopefully get my request tbr pile down in size.  Here is what I read in February:
When No One Is Watching by Joseph Hayes   4/5
Midnight Caller by Leslie Tertler   2/5
So Close The Hand of Death by J.T. Ellison   1 DNF
Georgia Bottoms by Mark Childress   5/5
Toys by James Patterson & Neil McMahon   2/5
Heartache & Sin by Charles Soto   4/5

I like to read both - I don't want to feel like I'm missing out on some great stories just because they were written for YA.

Here's my Musing Mondays (Feb 28) post!

I'm afraid I don't have any reading secrets...I do read quickly. Possibly too quickly (that's why I have to do my reviews right away...otherwise it all leaks out my ear). If I had a vitamin or special secret, I'd be selling it to all my blogging buddies and quitting my day job. LOL.

Oh and as far as YA vs Adult...Adult, definitely. I read a YA every once in a while (witness The Thornthwaite Inheritance)--but like more modern novels of any sort, they really have to grab my attention (or be part of a reading challenge) to get me to read them. I don't think I read YA when I was a YA.

I goodness you didn't finish the JT Ellison. I read the 1st in the series and wasn't impressed but the publisher asked if I would try the new and I said I would consider it. I thought if they asked after a bad review they know the risk.

I see that you loved Georgia Bottoms -- I did too!

February was a bit shorthanded for me as well compared to a pretty good January. It's interesting that you prefer adult books over YA, considering the number of YA book blogs out there. I would agree with you, though that doesn't dissuade me from dabbling in some YA now and again...even just to feel that young ;)

Georgia Bottoms is on my wishlist.
Glad you enjoyed it.

I prefer adult. Too many good books out there in my usual genres.
My daughter has some YA so I could delve into the genre but my shelves keep me busy

I have been sticking to Adult books for to many years to count. I am not into vampires and witches, so YA books just do not appeal to me. And young love.... Awww it is so sweet, but I'm to old for young love, I guess I will just have to remember the young loves of my past, before Tony.

What you mean the month was "ehhhh". Girl you read tons and came a few bad apples... but look you 3 top ratings of above 4 and 5.

Bravo girl.

I like Adult and YA books. You should definitely try some of the new YA that's being written.

I am not a huge fan of YA fiction, at least a fair bit of what I have read. I think I am in a minority...lol

I love adult books but read YA sometimes. Some of today's YA contemporary fiction is really great.

Hope you enjoy your reads.

Before I started book blogging I read adult books only, but that is the nice thing about book blogging--it has allowed me to read outside my comfort zone and I have really found some good reads!

I can't believe February is over all ready! I didn't get much reading done either. I sure hope March proves to be productive!
