Read-A-Thon Wrap-Up (4 of 4)

Photobucket
48hr Rread-A-Thon hosted by UNPUTDOWNABLES
WRAP-UP:
I finished one book and started another, but am disappointed as to how much I got done.  I have learned and need to remind myself...."Self...do not sign up for WEEKEND read-a-thons because the non readers in my house don't get the concept of a Read-A-Thon"  lol.  But when I was able to pick up my book and read, it was fun knowing it was for the Read-A-Thon.  Maybe next time I will do better and reach my goals.  That just didn't happen this weekend.  But thank you to UNPUTDOWNABLES for hosting.

Read-A-Thon Sunday Update (2 of 2)

Photobucket
48hr Read-A-Thon hosted by UNPUTDOWNABLES
7:00am EST:
Real life interfered again last night.  Hubby is a non reader, and unfortunately, does not get the concept for a Read-A-Thon lol, and was in a very chatty mood.  I did get some reading done when I went to bed, after he fell sleep, and until I fell asleep.  Plan today: Get some blog to-dos done and to read rest of day.  Will update as the day goes on.
9:00pm
Got a little side tracked today working on computer to-dos.  Read the Sunday Journal Newspaper with my coffee...lol hope that counts.  Got in a few hours of reading this afternoon.  And plan to retreat to my recliner for a few more hours.  Wrap-up tomorrow morning.  Have a good night all!!

Read-A-Thon Updates for Saturday

Photobucket
4:30pm est:  Got a late start today :(   Real life interfered.  What's the saying about best laid plans?  Am usually up by 5:30am, but for some reason, woke up later than usual. I know with me, when that happens, it throws me off kilter.  Does that happen to you too?  Felt that the day was already 1/2 gone.  Physical therapy session from yesterday was rescheduled for this morning, so I lost 90 min. there.  I just finished Whiter Than Snow by Sandra Dallas and will be starting The Lies We Told by Diane Chamberlain shortly.  However, we have a scheduled appointment later on with a certified rug installer to inspect the substandard installation from a national rug company back in March, because of damage that was caused due to flooding after days of heavy rain, and a "state of emergency" was issued.  I plan on blogging about this at a later date to spare even one person the aggravation we have gone through.
How is your Saturday?  Did you sign up to participate in the Read-A-Thon?   Will be posting another update later on today.  Happy Reading!!
9pm est Update:  Results from carpet inspector is what we thought...and we aren't too happy but that is for another day.  I started The Lies We Told by Diane Chamberlain and from what I have read so far,  it is a good one.  Pulled me in with the 2 page Prologue.  Remaining night's plan...getting comfortable and continue reading.  Next update will be tomorrow morning.  Have a good night all !!

48 hour Read-A-Thon

Photobucket
48 Hour Read-A-Thon hosted by Unputdownables

I found out about the Read-A-Thon late this afternoon via ExLibris' Blog and signed up.  I need an incentive to do nothing but read.  So am telling family that I am unavailable (they will probably be happy lol) and will be starting as soon as I publish this post.  And am hoping that the weather is nice this weekend because my plan is to sit by the pool and/or get on my float, with my book and an iced coffee and read.  I want to finish my current read and on to the next, and maybe even finishing that one.  So the books I will be working on are:

And if I am lucky and "real life" doesn't interfere, my next book will be:
So if I am a silent blogger this weekend, you will know why.  Want to join in.  Link provided above.  Wish me luck !!!!  Toodles....I am off to read........

About DNBRD

In December of 2009, Amanda Lanyon-LeSage said something on Facebook that could possibly change the world. She merely wished that she could take a day off and do nothing but read. Her idea was seconded–and thirded and fourthed–and then it happened for real.
The first Do Nothing But Read Day was held on Sunday, December 20, 2009.
In 2010, there will be two editions of Do Nothing But Read Day:
June 27 and December 19.
Sign up for DNBRD on June 27, 2010

Summer Reading Challenge

Have you heard??  Julie from My Book Retreat is hosting a Summer Reading Challenge.  I remember that I was probably the only kid who looked forward to Summer Reading when I was in school a few, many, many many, ok...in the days when the only transportation to school was one's feet  lol.  So I had to join in.  How about you?  Criteria from Julie's blog and link provided below along with my list of books.

Hosted by Julie from My Book Retreat
Here's how you can participate in this Summer Reading Challenge, which will take place from June 21 - September 21.
Create a list of the books you’d like to read or finish during this summer season. There's no minimum and no requirements as to the type of books you put on your list ~ it's all up to you how many you include, and whether they're beach reads or classics or something in between.
Write a blog post with the list of books you want to read ~ and any other summer reading goals ~ and post it on your blog.
Come back here on June 21st to sign up. I’ll have a Linky set up that morning, so you can link up to your own Summer Reading Challenge post.
Read! Work through your list of books throughout the summer. Write reviews if you'd like. Have fun!
Write a wrap-up post at the end of summer to report on your results.
Come back here on September 21st to link your wrap-up post to the Linky I'll post that day.
If you're joining this Summer Reading Challenge, I encourage you to visit other participants to see what they’re reading. You may find some new books to add to your own TBR list. If you think you'd like to participate, leave a comment below so I can get an idea of how many people might want to join. Also, if you do plan to join, let me know if you'd like me to set up a Linky for keeping track of review posts as well. I'd be happy to do so if people are going to use it!
My List:
   1.  Still Missing by Chevy Stevens
   2.  Dare To Die by Carolyn Hart
   3.  I Can See You by Karen Rose
   4.  Never Let You Go by Erin Healy
   5.  Returning Injury by Becky Due
   6.  Through Hazel Eyes by  Heather Hummel
   7.  Muffins & Mayhem by Suzanne Beecher
   8.  Living In The Hope Of My Imagination by William D. Simpson
   9.  Finding Marco by Kenneth C. Cancellara
 10.  Damaged by Pamela Callow
 11.  Grace Under Pressure by Julie Hyzy
 12.  Revenge Served Cold by Jackie Fullerton
I will probably add more to the list depending on how much I get read.  But isn't this great?  It is bringing back memories of when I used to sit under the shade of a big tree we had in our yard, with my pile of books and a big glass of lemonade.

Read-A-Thon Challenge (3 of 3)

Photobucket
Hosted by Kristen from Bookworming in the 21st Century
I don't know where the time went yesterday.  I didn't get as much reading in as I had planned to.  One thing that threw me off was that I got up later than usual and when that happens it makes me upset that I lost a couple of hours.  I am usually up by 5am but slept later than usual.  So here are my stats for Saturday:
Hours reading:  5
Challenge hours to date:  33.5

Challenge Update--Thurs (2 of 2)

Photobucket
Hosted by Kristen from Bookworming in the 21st Century
Yesterday was a very productive day for me. I read quite a bit, finished a book, wrote and posted the review, and started another.  I am still behind in my goal but knowing that I have signed up for this challenge, is giving me the kick in the butt to get off this laptop and to be sitting in my reading chair with my book.  I also noticed yesterday that I am catching up in my tbr reading schedule after losing the month of April.  I am now reading books that I received a month ago.  However, this past month I received a lot of books.
     Hours Read Wednesday:  7.5
   Challenge Hours Read:  16
Goal For Week:  40

Whats that saying about best laid plans?  Well that is what is happening with this challenge and my reading time.  I am way behind in my goal, BUT, am going to think positively.  I will catch up, I will catch up, I will catch up !!
Yesterday's hours read:  4
Total to date:                    8.5

Challenge Update--Tues (3 of 3)

Photobucket
Hosted by Kristen from Bookworming in the 21st Century
Yesterday I had good intentions to get my computer items done and head to the recliner to read.  But I had a long session with PT and then my bff came to visit and do my nails, its great having a friend that is a nail tech.  She has been wonderful, not only by making house calls, but being at my side at the drop of a hat, during this really rough time with "my medical journey".
I didn't quite meet my goal but am hoping to catch up.  I only put in 4.5 hours of reading time.  So I am off to get some stuff done and run, walk really fast, ok, take slow steps with my cane to the recliner.  Happy Reading and Good Luck today to those that are participating!!

Mini Challenge (1 of 4)

MONDAY

Photobucket

Photobucket
Hosted by Kristen from Bookworming in the 21st Century

Yesterday, in my google reader, I saw a posting from the blog, Review From Here, where there was a Read-A-Thon starting today.  It starts today at 8am and goes thru until Sunday 06/20 at midnight.  I am throwing my hat, or should I say book, into the ring.

Instead of choosing a goal of how many books I will read, especially since my books are usually well over 300 pages each.  I will be challenging my self to hours read.  And the number of hours for this challenge will be 40 hours for the week, a full time job lol.  Want to join, link provided above.  I will be reporting daily how I am doing.  And Good Luck to those who are participating.
