Saturday Memes

SATURDAY

Photobucket

Hosted by Danielle at There's A Book From Danielle's blog:
We all leave our “footprint” on the world, in one way or another. We each, individually, do something or are someone that makes the world a little better just by being here. I created this weekly meme to get to know the blogging community I love just a bit better. To know what makes them tick, outside of books, that is. Each week I will post a question to be answered in the following week’s “A Bit of Me(Me)”. Check back each Saturday to get the info for next week’s post and link up with your current post right here.
This week's question:  What super-power would you most like to have, and why?
What a fantastic question this week and if only it could become a reality.  I chose that I could survive on no sleep.  It would give me more hours in the day to get all that I wanted to get done.  Plus sleep is what energizes our bodies, which would mean that I would also have the energy to complete tasks.  LOL  off to take a nap lol.

I've wanted to start a meme like this for a long time. It's "Anything Goes on Saturday". It's a chance to choose any topic you want and talk about it on Saturday - it can be about a book, TV show, movie, a recipe or just an update on your week. Whatever you choose.
Today's topic:  Bloggers' role in the publishing world
When I first started blogging, I thought, which we are, avid readers who share our thoughts on books we have read and have discussions as if we are like one big book club.  But the more I have learned over this past year, I wonder if we play a greater role in the world of authors' careers, publishing, etc.  Do you feel that we are looked upon as "just bloggers" or are looked upon "with respect" as to what our thoughts are pertaining to books?  Would love to hear your thoughts!!

Ah, to survive on no sleep...sometimes, even when I'm very tired, I wish I didn't have to sleep and miss out on things I want and need to do! Good one....

Here's my A BIT OF ME

I do agree that bloggers play a great role in the publishing world. Prominent bloggers (like you) make or break the market for an author..

I wish I could get there someday but for now I am contented getting to read and review some good books.

What a great idea for a super power! LOL

As for our role in the author's worlds, I would hope that we are looked upon with appreciation and respect. I feel honored whenever I am contacted by an author or publisher.....

Book bloggers do have an impact. And authors know it too. That is the reason, there are book tours, author interviews and giveaways. Publicity never harmed anyone!

Man, I would love to have the ability to not sleep, or to just sleep for a day when I have time and make that be good for the month or something.

I chose invincibility :)

I think there are authors and publishers who respect bloggers very much. The fact that we all receive so many review requests shows that, I think. We help publicize and put books out there that others may not have heard about before. I know I "discovered" quite a few books that I never would have heard of without my fellow bloggers.

I personally would like two things. I would like the power to be invincible. No sickness/no pain!!! Once I got there I would like to be able to orb, so I can go anywhere I want, and still be home on time to make supper! Woo Hoo! Beam me up Scottie! LOL

I think bloggers have a huge impact in the publishing world. Our reviews help other readers decide whether to buy a book or not.

I love the idea of having more time to get things done but I looooooove my sleep, about as much as I love pressing my snooze button...anyway, I would definitely love a time-stopping button so I could have as much time as I needed to get things done but I could still enjoy a good night's sleep!

I wish I could survive on no sleep too! That would be fantastic!

Wow! That would be incredibly nice. I'd love to be able to stay awake 24-7 without all those nasty side affects. Think of all the books I could read and all the writing I could accomplish! Love the choice!

Yes, blogging is a whole new thing it seems recently. There was an article recently about how much bloggers have helped Book Depository. It was very flattering, but in a way it made it sound like we were more important to the sales of books than I ever imagined. It's somewhat surreal, because it all began, as you said, as something that was similar to a book club. A way to connect to others. It still is and I think I just keep reminding myself that that's what has been truly important.

I love your idea of surviving on no sleep. As a mom of small children, after they go to bed it is my time. If I wasn't tired it would help tremendously.

I am fairly new to blogging about books. It is very exciting to see authors and publishers involved and supporting so many of our blogs.
