Awards

I first owe a huge apology to Lisa from Lisa's World of Books and Ellie from Books, Fitness & Other Stuff.  They each have presented me with an award and I am just getting to post about them.  As some of you know that I have been having some personal issues that has had to take preference above everything else..  But, by all means, it doesn't lessen how appreciative I am and what a warm feeling I get, that 2 of my fellow (or should I say Gal) bloggers think that my blog and I deserve these awards.

The first warm and fuzzy was presented by Lisa from Lisa's World of Books.  A very BIG Thank you Lisa for sharing your award with me.  And for those who haven't met Lisa, please stop by and say hi.
Photobucket
And now for the criteria and passing the torch (am taking a little liberty here as we all know that we love receiving awards but it is time consuming and takes away from reading time, so I hope you don't mind, if I change the rules a bit)
1. Accept the award, post it on your blog together with the name of the person who has granted the award and his or her blog link.

2. Pass the award to 15 3 other blogs that you've newly discovered.
3. Remember to contact the bloggers to let them know they have been chosen for this award.
Passing it on to (in no particular order):

Hubby is going to be very happy today because I can turn down the thermostat, more warm and fuzzy feelings.  Ellie from Books, Fitness & Other Stuff passed this new one on to me.  A very BIG Thank you Ellie.  I have never seen this award before
Photobucket
I will also be taking the same liberty with this award.
Criteria:
As a condition of my acceptance of this adorable award, I have to share five three things about myself.

In those five things, four must be partially fictitious, or enhanced realities (read - kinda true, but kinda not), and then one full factoid. I also must pass this award along to seven 3 other awesome bloggers. Feel free to make guesses about which one is the completely true one, I'll post the answers later in the week!
1.  I wear contacts.
2.  In high school I travelled to Spain, Italy and Africa
3.  Public speaking does not bother me.
Passing it to (in no particular order):
PK Reeves from Aisle B
Gina from Hott Books

My first of 2011 !!!

It is freezing here in New England, and as I sit at my desk dressed in sweats AND a sweater, with a Yankee Candle burning (today it's Sparkling Vanilla--hubby's favorite), surrounded by my books, the heat cranked and I still feel like an ice cube
until a few minutes ago when I received a comment on my blog.  Have you guessed why?  Yup...that's right...it's that warm and fuzzy feeling when one of our peers inform us that they have an award for us.  And not only has Zakiya from Butterfly Feet Walking On Life has presented me with this honor, it is my first award for 2011 !!  If you haven't visited her blog before, please take a minute, stop by, say hi and tell her CMash sent you.  The award is:
Photobucket
Thank you so much Zakiya!!!  I still get excited as much as I did when I accepted my first award!!
And now for the criteria: (which I will be taking some liberties with, as we all know that accepting and passing on awards take quite a bit of time and with Challenges just starting, we should all be reading  lol).
1) Thank the person who gave you the award, and link back to them in your post.

2) Tell us seven (7) 5 things about yourself.
3) Award 15  5 super-stylish bloggers this award :D
4) Contact those bloggers and let them know they have won.
OK...Warning...Boring part coming up...you have my permission to skip this part!!!
  1.)  I am a homebody at heart
2.)  I hibernate in the winter..I despise the cold.
3.)  As stated above, I do my part by keeping Yankee Candle in business.  I have a candle burning every day.
4.)  It amazes me that hubby and I will be married for 30 years come April, where did the time go?
5.)  We thought we would have a hard time accepting the fact that we were going to be empty nesters, that lasted about 3 days and now we are loving it  lol.
And now I pass the torch to the following, in no particular order:
Gina from Hott Books

Award (3 of 4)

It has happened again....and the feeling never changes.  I still get excited and feel warm and fuzzy when someone leaves me that little message..."I have an award for you".   I guess it's because I still can't believe there are people who really like my blog, a blog that began as a personal journal.

Teresa, from Diary of a Domestic Goddess (don't you just love her blog's name....I do!!!) presented me with this award on Friday.  If you haven't visited before, please stop by, visit a bit and say hi.
Now for the criteria that comes along with accepting this award, however, I am going to take a little liberty and make some changes.  (am running out of things to tell you about myself lol)
Here are the rules:

Share 7 5 things about myself
Pass the award to 15 5 bloggers recently discovered
Notify the blogger recipients
Link to the blogger who gave the award

1.  The happiest time of my life was during my boys' childhoods.  Our house was always the "house to go to and hangout".  During the summer, their friends were here every single day having fun in the pool (hubby couldn't understand why the grocery bill was so much money but had to have pickies, pizza, soda, etc etc.)  I loved it!!!!
2.  Always wished I could sing4.  I am terrified of heights

3.  I'm a crier..happy, sad, whatever the situation, I cry.

5.  I am a Nervous Nelly and worry too much...working on changing that!!

I am now passing the torch to: (in no particular order):

This past week the fall weather was upon us here in New England but I was feeling warm and fuzzy.  I didn't receive one award.  I received 2!!!!  Bev from My Reader's Block presented me with the following awards:
Bev is a relatively new blogger, but her reviews read as a seasoned writer.  Her personality comes through with each posting.  If you haven't visited her, please stop by her place, look around, say hi and maybe even become a follower.  Her blog is that good!!!  Thank you Bev for these 2 awards, it is an honor to receive them.  And now for the criteria:
To accept these awards it is required that I share ten things about myself. (I don't want to bore anyone so am going to alter the rules a bit)  I am going to share 5 things about this past week.
1.  Hubby and I became official empty nesters, bittersweet emotions with this one.
2.  Son who lives 5 hours away came home yesterday  :)
3.  I have been in a reading slump, don't know why but need to get out of it because my review pile is staring at me.
4.  Hubby is starting on getting the room prepared that is going to become my library/office.  :)  Really excited about this....lol  MY own room!!  New desk chair arrived and put together, new bookcase waiting to be loaded.
5.  Lost a life long friend.  Harsh reality learned...life is short, enjoy every moment, it could be your last.
Now I pass these awards on (in no particular order)

I have had so much fun since Friday, when BlogFest began.  This being my first time ever to be participating.  I have found new blogs and entering many great giveaways.  And  then to make it even more special,  I got that warm and fuzzy feeling.  That's right...you guessed it...I was presented with an award.  I know I keep repeating myself but its the truth.  No matter how many awards I get, I still get excited just like the first award received.  I really never thought my "private personal journal of books read" would become the blog I have today... I am in awe.

Thank you so very much for thinking of me and passing on this award to me.  If you haven't visited, I wish you would, and say hi.  LibrarysCat Book List, Reading in 9 Lives (I just love that blog name) has presented me with this award:
Photobucket
Now for the criteria:
The Cherry on top Award Rules are:
Answer this question: If you had the chance to go back and change one thing in your life, would you, and what would it be?
My answer is the same from last week:
What would I change. There are many answers to this question but the main response, which comes with age and wisdom, would be to Enjoy Every Minute, don't sweat the small stuff, because life goes by as quickly as the snap of your fingers.

PICK 6 people and give them this award. You then have to inform the person that they have gotten this award.
And now I pass this fantastic award on to the following (in no particular order):
Kristin at  Always With A Book

I recently found this wonderful and delightful blog, "Mandy's Escape" that I have been following for a few weeks.  So this morning, with coffee mug in hand and scrolling through my google reader of "Blogs I Follow", I saw that she had posted that she has just received her first award.  You could feel her excitement in what she wrote.  I remember how I felt when I received my first award, so I clicked on her site with the intentions of congratulating her.  It was the first time seeing this particular award, so I read everything she had written due to the criteria.  And then.....WHAM...was I seeing things...I knew it was only my 1st cup of coffee so had to reread it again!!!  She was passing it on to me!!!  What a total surprise!!!  I felt the excitement as I did the first time I received an award and have felt with every single one since.  If you haven't visited Mandy at Mandy's Escape, I am sure that if you do, you will be following her too.  So stop by, say hi and see why I now follow her.  Mandy...thank you so very much!!!!!!  This is the award that she has presented me with:
Photobucket
Now for the criteria:
To accept the award you must link back and thank the person who gave you the Life is Good award and answer the 10 questions and pass it along to 6 other blogs :)

1. If you blog anonymously are you happy doing it that way; if you are not anonymous do you wish you had started out anonymously so you could be anonymous now?

When I stumbled upon a book blog back in Sept/Oct, I created my blog to be a private personal journal of books I had read.  But the more I visited different blogs, I wanted to join in on the fun.  So went public in December. And glad I did!!!  I enjoy every minute of it and have met the nicest people.
2.Describe one incident that shows your inner stubborn side.
Not sure if this constitutes my "inner stubborn side" but when I decided to enter this blogging/reviewing community, I pledged to myself to be honest and credible even if it meant not agreeing with the majority of reviews.  But then, I think that is one of the great thing about this neighborhood, is that we can disagree.
3.What do you see when you really look at yourself in the mirror?
A 20, 40, #year old who is now an empty nester, proud of the way my boys turned out but wonder where the years went.  And hopefully a kind, caring, honest person.
4. What is your favorite summer cold drink?
A Dunkin Donuts Iced Coffee
5. When you take time for yourself, what do you do?
Read!!! or blog.
6.Is there something you still want to accomplish in your life? What is it?
To be a grandmother and spoil the grandchildren rotten, then send them home with my boys.  LOL Payback is a B____!  Travel with hubby.
7. When you attended school, were you the class clown, the class overachiever , the shy person, or always ditching?
I was just your above average everyday student.  I do remember from elementary school through high school, that along with my text books I always had my personal current read with me at all times.  However, in college, reading for pleasure took a back seat.
8. If you close your eyes and want to visualize a very poignant moment of your life what would you see? The birth of my first child.
The birth of our 2 sons.  Seems like yesterday!
9. Is it easy for you to share your true self in your blog or are you more comfortable writing posts about other people or events?
I feel that my personality comes through in the way I blog.  I am willing to share some personal information but not all.
10. If you had the choice to sit down and read or talk on the phone, which would you do and why?
It would depend on my mood.  I can be a chatterbox at times and other times, just want to get lost in a book.
Now I will pass this award on.  Because I could sense out excited Mandy was when she received this award, I have decided to pass this on to new bloggers and they are (in no particular order)

It is so humbling whenever she presents me with an award.  For those who follow this blog know that it is because of Vicki, that my blog is what it is today.  She has inspired me, mentored me and encouraged me from day one and more importantly, has become a friend.  So Vicki....the words thank you just don't seem to be enough as to how much I appreciate everything you have done for me....but...will say from the bottom of my heart, Thank you!!!
