My Question:
What was one of your most memorable New Year's?

My Answer:
It was 1980-1981. we had received news that day, that the offer we had
placed for buying our 1st home, had been accepted.

What’s the best book you read this year?
If you followed my blog over this past year, you learned that James Patterson was my all time #1 author, however, in May of 2010 I was introduced to a new author that I felt was equal to Patterson.  Since May I have read 2 more books by this writer and presently reading his 4th and can honestly say that he has taken the #1 spot.  That author is Vincent Zandri.  And the book that hooked me was:
Worst?
Other than the ones that ended up in the DNF pile, there were a few that I could put in this category but I know that these 2 had different thoughts around the blogosphere but were not enjoyable to me:

Favorite?
Some of my 5/5
Jackson, Lisa Most Likely To Die
Sheehan, Jacqueline Now & Then
Walker, Bill A Note from an old Acquaintance
Rose, Karen Silent Scream
Keener, Rachel The Memory Thief
Dixon, Dianne The Language of Secrets
Baron, Michael The Journey Home
Thayer, Nancy Beachcombers
Sheldon, Sydney After The Darkness
Stevens, Chevy Still Missing
Samuels-Young, Pamela Buying Time
Gardner, Lisa Live To Tell
Patterson, James Private
and

Like I mentioned above, I am currently reading the newest book by Vincent Zandri, The Innocent, which I will be posting my review for on January 1st.  What better way to start off the New Year but to review a book from my new #1 favorite author?  Oh I know,.....................to have him stop by and visit with us all.  So mark your calendars...Vincent Zandri will be here January 1st to let us know what we can look forward to in 2011.

From Lori's site:
It struck me recently how much time I spend on this computer every day, blogging, chatting or playing games on Facebook, emailing friends and relatives, making cards and calendars, etc. etc. etc.
We depend on each other for book reviews, giveaways, encouragement, friendship, but how well do we really know each other?
So that is what this meme is all about, getting to know each other.
WEEK 18 QUESTIONS

1. Did you get what you wanted for Christmas?
And more.....matter of fact....hubby shocked me with an 8 day trip to Aruba!!
Photobucket

2. Do you make New Year's Resolutions?
No

3. How will you spend New Year's Eve and New Year's Day this year?
We haven't decided yet.  Either with friends or a
quiet dinner, just the 2 of us, having shrimp cocktail and lobsters.
happy new year

Hachette Giveaway "The Science of Kissing" 12/29 to 01/12

THE SCIENCE OF KISSING
Photobucket
by SHERIL KIRSHENBAUM

December 29th to January 12th

SYNOPSIS:
What Our Lips Are Telling Us
From a noted science journalist comes a wonderfully witty and fascinating exploration of how and why we kiss.
When did humans begin to kiss? Why is kissing integral to some cultures and alien to others? Do good kissers make the best lovers? And is that expensive lip-plumping gloss worth it? Sheril Kirshenbaum, a biologist and science journalist, tackles these questions and more in THE SCIENCE OF KISSING. It's everything you always wanted to know about kissing but either haven't asked, couldn't find out, or didn't realize you should understand. The book is informed by the latest studies and theories, but Kirshenbaum's engaging voice gives the information a light touch. Topics range from the kind of kissing men like to do (as distinct from women) to what animals can teach us about the kiss to whether or not the true art of kissing was lost sometime in the Dark Ages. Drawing upon classical history, evolutionary biology, psychology, popular culture, and more, Kirshenbaum's winning book will appeal to romantics and armchair scientists alike.

WEDNESDAY

Please allow me to give a special thank you to a very special guy!!!!!!!
ImageChef.com - Custom comment codes for MySpace, Hi5, Friendster and more
As some of you know, this past year I have been dealing with quite a few personal and physical problems, and I don't know how I would have dealt with and/or gotten through any of them without my hubby's (we will be celebrating our 30th wedding anniversary in April) help.  And THEN, he just keeps giving, like the energizer bunny.  Yesterday, he is on vacation this week, he took hours out of his day to fix my computer, which as you all know,  I am sooooo very computer challenged, and it is now working perfectly!!!  And for Christmas, it was a good thing I was sitting down, he shocked me.  It reminded me of the walnut lunch bag Christmas I had as a child.  He recently hooked up a printer to my computer.  So, he wrapped a box of printable labels stating that I would need them now that I had a printer, except I could tell that it was an old box of labels.  I opened the box, and inside, besides the labels, were travel reservations for an 8 day trip to Aruba!!!!!!  I would say I am one lucky gal!!!  Love you!!!

What are you currently reading?

What did you recently finish reading?

What do you think you’ll read next?
I am not sure!!  Since I have decided that I will be making changes
in my reading schedule/habits for 2011, I have no idea how I
will get into the new routine or how I will be choosing the next book.

a very quiet P.S.

OK, I admit, a couple of months ago, I said that I wasn't going to sign up for as many challenges in 2011.  LOL  Did I listen???  NO !!!  Not only did I sign up for more, I am even cohosting The Three Rs Challenge.
Photobucket
I have been debating whether to add one more.  Heck...what's one more at this rate.  And this one is truly a challenge.  I signed up for it in 2010 and didn't read one book for the category, so am going to try again.

Teddy of So Many Precious Books, So Little Time is hosting the Books Won Challenge for a second year. She writes:
I created this challenge last year to challenge myself and others that have won books, to read and review some of them. The reason publishing companies supply books for book bloggers to give away is to get word out about the books and create buzz. I didn't do very well with this challenge in 2010, I only read one won book. However, 2011 is a New Year and a fresh start. I feel bad that I haven't read many of the book I have won and want to make an effort to read them in 2011.
If you would like to join me, here are the levels:
Honorable Mention: Read 1-3 book you won.  CHOOSING THIS LEVEL
Bronze: Read 4-6 books you won.
Silver: Read 7-9 Books you won.
Gold: Read 10 or more books you won.
The Rules:
1. You must write a review for each book that you read for it to count. If you do not have a blog you can write your reviews on a place like Amazon, Powell's, Chapters, etc.
2.Crossovers with other challenges are okay.
3. Audiobooks and ebooks count, as long as you won them.
4. You can change up levels but cannot go back down a level.
5. You don't have to make a list ahead of time for this challenge but you can if you want to.

Teaser Tuesday

TUESDAY
Happy Tuesday everyone!!  If you live on the upper east coast, I hope you are safe and shoveled out from the blizzard yesterday.
Photobucket
I will be away from my computer today, at least until hubby can figure what out what is wrong with it.  Booted it up this morning and kept getting the dreaded blue crash screen.  I am using hubby's computer at this minute, but since all my blogging sites are stored on mine, it is making me quite frustrated.  So if I don't respond, you will know why.

Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading. Anyone can play along! Just do the following:
*Grab your current read
*Open to a random page
*Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page
*BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)
*Share the title & author, too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers!

"Look, Keeper," Norman said, "I don't mean to go ballistic, but if Pelton's busted you, that makes me an accessory.  No matter who's in the wrong, that makes me liable for manipulating the evidence, too."
  "You knew the risks."
"I never imagined anything like this."

December has and is being hosted by Lady Q from Let Them Read Books
Mailbox Monday was created by Marcia of The Printed Page and is now on tour.
According to Marcia, “Mailbox Monday is the gathering place for readers to share the books that came into their house last week. Warning: Mailbox Monday can lead to envy, toppling TBR piles and humongous wish lists.”
Before sharing my mailbox with you, I want to give a big shout out to Lady Q for hosting this month.  And I think everyone will agree as to the wonderful job she did.  Except for posting all those images of desserts, whereas I put on weight just looking at them  lol.  So Lady Q...Thank you!!
