Monday Memes

MONDAY

Hosted by Miz B at Should Be Reading
This week's question:
Do you ever find scenes from previous books you’ve read popping into your head at random times? If so, does it bother you? If it doesn’t happen to you, why do you think that is?

My answer:
Yes.  But I can't say it bothers me, it just justifies that the 5/5 rating I gave it was accurate. When a book stays with me long after I finish the last page and something in real life triggers a scene that either I created in my mind or reminds me of a particular book, to me means it was a phenomenal read.  Two come to mind right away.  Whenever I see the commercial for, I think it it is, the Marriot Hotel where a man is spinning plates on sticks, Spinning by Michael Baron instantly comes to mind.  And now whenever I hear anything about Nantucket, I think of Beachcombers by Nancy Thayer.  If an author has that ability, that's an author that try to read every book he/she writes.

Thanks for hosting a giveaway of this entertaining book!

Saturday Memes

SATURDAY

Photobucket
Hosted by Danielle at There's A Book
From Danielle's blog:
We all leave our “footprint” on the world, in one way or another. We each, individually, do something or are someone that makes the world a little better just by being here. I created this weekly meme to get to know the blogging community I love just a bit better. To know what makes them tick, outside of books, that is. Each week I will post a question to be answered in the following week’s “A Bit of Me(Me)”. Check back each Saturday to get the info for next week’s post and link up with your current post right here.

This week's question:  What is your favorite thing about yourself?
Ohhhhh noooo.......Danielle is back to her "favorite" as in "just one" questions again lol.  And since I am not a "just one" answer type of person, I hope she doesn't mind that I am going to bend the rules a little.

I have been told, and also believe, that I have 3 positive traits.

I feel that I am a good listener and have always offered a shoulder for family and friends when it is needed.  I also believe by being a good listener is another form of education.  I have gained knowledge on aspects of life that I did not know about by listening to people talking about themselves, their lives, jobs, religion, beliefs, opinions, lifestyles, cultures, etc. etc.
And along with being a good listener, I believe being compassionate, goes hand in hand.  This may have come from my training to become a nurse or just growing up and having a sister with cerebral palsy.
Another trait I have is that I am loyal.  When someone confides in me and asks and/or tells me not to say anything, I don't.  To give an example, just recently someone told me something, which her mother had told me the same thing over 30 years ago but asked me not to say anything unless her daughter mentioned it.  When I told her I already knew, she couldn't believe that I had never said anything and had kept my promise to her mother for all those years.

What about you?  What is your favorite thing about yourself?

MY QUESTION:
I wish I was________
MY ANSWER:
Back in Aruba

Book Blogger Hop
Hosted by Jennifer from CRAZY FOR BOOKS
In the spirit of the Twitter Friday Follow, the Book Blogger Hop is a place just for book bloggers and readers to connect and find new book-related blogs that we may be missing out on! This weekly BOOK PARTY is an awesome opportunity for book bloggers to connect with other book lovers, make new friends, support each other, and generally just share our love of books! It will also give blog readers a chance to find other book blogs that they may not know existed! So, grab the logo, post about the Hop on your blog, and start HOPPING through the list of blogs that are posted in the Linky list below!!
Your blog should have content related to books, including, but not limited to book reviews.

This week's question:
"Which book blogger would you most like to meet in real life?"

My answer:
This is a hard one....it's like asking what child do you like better?  I have met so many wonderful people over this past year that I truly consider them friends that I would love to meet and spend a "girl's weekend get away".  Too many to name, and I don't want to hurt any person's feelings, but you know who you are!!!!!

Thursday Memes

THURSDAY

Hi everyone!!!!  I'm back from vacation and missed each and everyone of you.  We had a WONDERFUL time and both hubby and I wished we had planned a longer stay because the week flew by.  I have so much to tell you.  We took some beautiful pictures of the island and will share them in a couple of days.  We got in very early this morning so today's plans are to get settled, unpack, laundry, catch up on both email and snail mail and another huge task, especially for me.

As you all know, I am computer challenged, and I mentioned that my very special hubby was dropping my laptop off the day before leaving for vacation to the Geek Squad to do an overhaul........well......they ran a diagnostic test when he was there and the news was not good.  I had fried it!!!!  So.....he purchased a new one for me and supposedly the Geek Squad was going to transfer all my files to the new laptop and Steve will be picking it up today......so I will be spending quite a bit of time trying to figure out the new one.

As for Aruba...paradise.   The weather gorgeous..between 88-92 every day.  I am multi colored between burnt,  burn on burn, tanned.   Loved those frozen pina coladas and frozen banana daiquiris!!!  Met 2 fun couples on the beach and hung out with them every day, matter of fact, we are all going to try and plan to go back the same week next year.  One night we took a sunset 2 hour sunset cruise, which Steve was able to take some absolutely beautiful pictures and video of the sun setting.  And for the big question..........NO...I was unable to convert Steve into a reader.  He never even took the Kindle out of the luggage.  I did get some reading in...read  1 and 3/4 books, but we were having so much fun, my plans for beach, reading and frozen drinks changed after the 2nd day there.  By Saturday it was beach, frozen banana daiquiris, a little bit of reading   lol.

Will share more in the coming days, including pictures but for now, am going to start catching up.
Have one favor to ask, would love to hear what you have been doing this past week.  What you have read?  What you have been doing?  Any news with you that I may have missed?  Anything that you would like to share with me to bring me up to speed? Would love to hear...being away for a week I feel like I missed so much.

This is a palapa, which everyday at 4pm, guests at the Radisson, where we stayed, would reserve one for the next day.  It is a necessity being so close to the equator and the sun so strong that after 15 minutes or so in the sun, you have to put your lounge chair under it for shade,

Teaser Tuesday

TUESDAY

Photobucket
Hosted by Miz B at Should Be Reading
Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading. Anyone can play along! Just do the following:
*Grab your current read
*Open to a random page
*Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page
*BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)
*Share the title & author, too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers!

"In your own words, I'd like you to tell me why you think the Campsite Killer is your biological father and the details of the phone calls you received recently."  Her serious tone made me even more nervous and my heart sped up.

I would like to thank Mari for hosting one of my favorite memes this month.   Thank You Mari!!

If you have followed my blog over this past year, you know that I have become a HUGE fan of Vincent Zandri's.  I read all of his books and have been patiently waiting for his newest novel to be released.  He surprised me last week by sending me the galley of this book and I can't wait to start it.  Thank you Vin for the honor of entrusting me with and allowing me to read and review the galley.  I will let everyone know what I think and when it will be available for you to enjoy too.  If it is anything like his other books, I'm in for a treat!!!!

Sunday's Shining Star

Hi Everyone!!!  Sunday's Shining Star is on vacation this week.  Jeff (Lori's hubby aka Dollycas's Thoughts) had some things to catch up on and needed the day off.  Men!!!!  I think we have been over working him with all the travelling plus putting him in charge of getting the dessert to our "gab sessions" on time (even though some of it is missing when it gets delivered BUT I'm not pointing any fingers lol)!!  Next week is Mother's Day so Sunday's Shining Star will be back on May 15th.  I am sure it will be a long gab fest with a lot of catching of to do.  While here, make sure you check out the sidebars for current giveaways that you may be interested in entering and Good Luck.  See you soon !!!!
