Hosted by Danielle at There's A Book
From her blog:
We all leave our “footprint” on the world, in one way or another. We each, individually, do something or are someone that makes the world a little better just by being here. I created this weekly meme to get to know the blogging community I love just a bit better. To know what makes them tick, outside of books, that is. Each week I will post a question to be answered in the following week’s “A Bit of Me(Me)”. Check back each Saturday to get the info for next week’s post and link up with your current post right here.
This Weeks Question:
Do you come from a large or small family and how do you think it influenced your life?

I am really not sure how to answer this one, is it just immediate or does it include extended family, so to cover all basis, I will answer for both.  But my first thought is that I come from a very small family.  This is also a very difficult question for me due to a situation I am presently faced with.
Immediate:  One hubby of 29 yrs and 2 sons (26 and 24).  As of next month, the hubster and I will be empty nesters, with both boys living out of state due to jobs/careers.  :(
Semi Immediate:  My mom, luckily, is with us and just celebrated her 89th bday.  Her mom. my Nana, lived to be 101.  So there is definitely a long term age gene floating around.  My mom was an only child.  My dad, died when I was 16 and was one of 8 brothers/sisters with only 2 surviving. I have one sister who is 9 1/2 years older than me.  However, the "sisterly/sibling "relationship" is quite different, because my sister has Cerebral Palsy.
It has definitely influenced my life, I knew from an early age that I would be the sole person that would have to take on all  responsibilities one day because there is no one else.  Unfortunately that day came in March of 2009, whereas I was battling my own physical problems, but was left with no choice and it continues to this day.
Now you know "a little bit" more about me.  What about you...small or large family?  Has it influenced your life?

Interesting little bit about you, I enjoyed reading about your life.

However, I came from a large family, I am the youngest of 8 children. My father died when I was four years old. My mom finished raising us children as a single mom. We all turned out great. She taught us that love of one another was more important than riches. Therefore, we are a close knit large group of brothers, sisters, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. And I would say yes, being from a large family influenced my life, i guess that is why I had five children, small compared to my mother, but, large in todays world.

Hubby is coming along really good, he is getting around better with each passing day. His physical therapist was by yesterday and worked with him. I will be his coach each day helping him with his exercises. She comes by each Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. The nurse comes by Monday and Thursdays. So we are on our own on Tuesdays, and the week-ends. Hope you are feeling better soon. Being depressed isn't any fun. I hope as the day goes on you will feel better.

Wow, you have had a lot to cope with. My family is small, too. I'm the only one who lives away.

Cheryl,

You are one of the strongest women I know. Your strength sustained you through many challenges and you have a wonderful set of men taking care of you, especially your guardian angel by the pool :) Keep inspiring the rest of us and know that PK Reeves will send out the positive karma your way... Hey since when did I start referring to myself in the third person?? You see!?? I've been reading way too many romances! Darn! Have a great weekend and keep yourself out of trouble... and stay dry while you read on that floater! OK OK ok....get him to feed you some grapes too ;)

You truly are amazing and I know your family appreciates all you do for them. How could they not? Just wonderful.

And awww...I'm so sorry about your kiddos moving out! It's such a hard time. My mother-in-law (whom I'm very close to) has recently gone through this and her 4 boys were her life. It's such a tough thing, but so nice to hear when they are moving on to such great things. I'm sure you are extremely proud of their accomplishments as well. Thank you so much for sharing!
