GIVEAWAY ENTRY PAGE "THE TRAITOR'S WIFE" ENDED

SEPTEMBER 21st to OCTOBER 5TH, 2011

THE TRAITOR'S WIFE
by KATHLEEN KENT

SYNOPSIS:
In the harsh wilderness of colonial Massachusetts, Martha Allen works as a servant in her cousin's household, taking charge and locking wills with everyone. Thomas Carrier labors for the family and is known both for his immense strength and size and his mysterious past. The two begin a courtship that suits their independent natures, with Thomas slowly revealing the story of the role he played in the English Civil War. But in the rugged new world they inhabit, danger is ever present, whether it be from the assassins sent from London to kill the executioner of Charles I or the wolves-in many forms-who hunt for blood. At once a love story and a tale of courage, The Traitor's Wife confirms Kathleen Kent's ability to craft powerful stories from the dramatic background of America's earliest days.

I have a hard enough time trying to navigate the current era I'm in, I wouldn't last very long in a past era. So, no I don't think I could live in that era.

I would like to live for a year in those times in order to mentally and physically get my life in order and move on from there. Would it be hard? Without a doubt, but we shouldn't shy away from difficult opportunities.

I like to imagine that I have the skills and knowledge to survive a year in that era, but I know I don't. Aside from the physical dangers of wild animals, how would I preserve food without modern conveniences like freezers and canning jars? That's just one example of why I have to answer no. asthenight at gmail dot com

I think I could live in that era for a year but I think it would be very difficult and I don't think I'd want to live in that era. It seems like a time when many people didn't really respect each other and women were by and large disrespected and given few rights. African Americans were treated very badly. It also was a rather volatile time when people werer suspicious of each other.

Great question and thank you for this awesome giveaway!

Yep, it would be tough, but I think I could do it. I've studied enough about pioneering living and living off the land and survival skills that I think I could make it.

When I was younger, I probably could have made it for a year, but don't think I would want to, especially knowing what I do about health hazards--there is a reason many men went through multiple wives!
