WHEN NO ONE IS WATCHING
by JOSEPH HAYES

SYNOPSIS (borrowed from B&N):
On the eve of announcing his run for Congress, a charismatic Chicago politician causes a deadly accident. Panicked, he frames his best friend, a good-hearted alcoholic, and flees the scene. As one man tries to pick up the pieces of his shattered life, the other embarks on a meteoric rise to political stardom. But when a dogged detective digs deeper into the case, the political superstar must decide just how far he is willing to go to keep his dark secret and avoid an explosive scandal that could ruin him and rock the entire nation.
In this suspenseful thriller, author Joseph Hayes asks, is "the greater good" just a lie we tell ourselves to justify the sins we commit when no one is watching?

What would I do if someone framed me? Wow! I hope you aren't thinking of it :)
I know one thing, if my loved ones were threatened due to this, that person wouldn't be around too long!

This is a hard question to answer. It seems that to be framed, assumes that you were guilty of doing something wrong in the first place. In that case, I would apologize but if I was innocent and that "friend" knew it and made it look like I did something when I didn't, that's different. I would no longer consider that person a friend. I thought about this and then
rememebered that this did happen to me once before I retired and I knew her motivation for it. What I did is proove that it was impossible for me to do the deed to my supervisor and I actually turned her in because her id was right on the deed. I cut off my relationship forever after that.

I would do what I could to prove that I hadn't done whatever I was framed for doing. But I would not implicate them if I didn't have to.

If a friend framed me---well lets say they definitely would be looking over their shoulder for a long time wondering when or if I would strike.

if a friend framed me for a crime, i would most definitely retaliate. perhaps not immediately, but in time and in a way that only that 'friend' would be aware!
