Slapdash Sunday is a day for your proverbial week 'leftovers.' Is there something you wanted to say, but just forgot? Is there something you want to write about, but isn't worth a whole page? Do you have a random thought, funny or otherwise that needs to be written down?
That is what Slapdash Sunday is for!Today's Topic: AWARDS
Since I received 2 more awards this past week, it got me thinking......
I honestly get that warm and fuzzy feeling with each award. I still get excited when someone leaves that comment to visit their blog because an award is waiting for me. I think it is a great honor when a peer presents an award. Or maybe its just me, because I still am amazed, that people actually read and enjoy my blog. Or maybe its because this time last year, I didn't even realize that this world existed. Or maybe its because I am still having so much fun as I did when I joined my first challenge and participated in my first meme (had to google what a meme was because I had no idea).
I know that receiving and then passing on an award takes up a bit of time but in my opinion, it's worth it. I respect that some bloggers have a "no award policy" and I do honor that request. However, I do wonder why that is.
What are your thoughts on receiving awards? Do you accept awards? Or do you have a "no award policy" and why? Would love to hear what you think. Let's have a Slapdash Discussion.

I like getting awards. It gives me the warm fuzzies to know that someone is thinking of me, but too many of them require you to do stuff. If it was just a gift plain and simple, like a gift should be I wouldn't have a problem accepting them, but too many of them require work. I don't have time for more work! I'm sorry!! I really really do appreciate it from the bottom of my little bloggy heart when someone gives me one, but I just don't have time usually to fool with all the passing on or answering questions.
I, like Autumn don't really mind getting awards, but, I don't like passing them on to 5, 8, or 10 people. It is very time consuming and I am busy and any spare time I have I like to read books or visit other blogs. If it would just consist of accepting the award and passing it on to one other person, I don't think I would mind. And yes, I do have a "no I don't participate in awards" policy on some of my blogs. However, I still receive awards anyway. So to show my appreciation, and I do appreciate receiving the awards, I have a special blog where I display them. You can find it here: http://annsawardsblog.blogspot.com. Or, as I call the blog "A Little of This and That"
I love receiving awards, but I do not rush to pass them on. I take some time either during the Monday What Are You Reading or whatever Friday Meme I participate in to look over the blogs I visit and make a list of the blogs I really like and then usually the next week, I post my award, thank the blogger who bestowed the wonderful award on me and list the blogs I am passing it on to. The one thing I do not do is follow the rules exactly as to the number of blogs I pass it on to, if the rules say pass it on to 15 blogs but I only find 5, 7, 9 or whatever number to pass it to, that's what I do. I try to honor certain blogs, "NO AWARDS RULE", but sometimes if I feel they are very worthy I put them on the list and if they don't want to post it or pass it on, that's fine, at least I have shown them my appreciation for their blog.

I love getting awards, and I pass them on every Wednesday on my Winning Wednesday post. The big downside is how time-consuming it is to pass them on. I have considered making my blog "award-free", but for now I still like getting them too much!
I love receiving them but nothing beats the feeling when I give them out. There are so many incredible review bloggers and it's a way of say "HEY YOU'RE ONE AMAZING REVIEWER". I guess the hesitancy to posting them may be due to the daunting task of sending them out also and to avoid the feel of a chain mail. It's important that we don't feel pressed to do it and not limited to sending them to the number outlined. Just shout it out and tweek it and send it out with flair.
You deserved the accolades so smile and accept the OSCAR girl :)
I'm new enough to the blogosphere that I am probably going to be pleased as punch to receive awards for a good long while yet. I'm just thrilled to pieces to see some of my blogging friends mentioning my blog in this week's Hop (where we were asked to name some of our favorite blogs)--that's award enough for me. And, I think if I get a little weary of following the rules that go with some of the awards, I'll probably "bend" the rules a little so I can still send them out.
I love getting awards, and what I hate is when I've been swallowed up by work to re-issue them out in a timely manner!! I know, I know-- I am coming back into town on Tuesday night and don't have any scheduled commitments for book reviews, so Tuesday and Wednesday is all about what I want to do -- so I'll be formally thanking you for the award and will be passing it out as well! THANK YOU!! (And don't kick my butt) :)
Interesting. This is a topic that I've been thinking about lately. I don't exactly have a "no awards" policy, but I do have a little statement on my book blog (in the comments area) about awards. I love to get them and I really do appreciate it when someone honors me with an award. But I don't usually play the "tag" games associated with a lot of the awards. As others have said, it's a very time-consuming activity and I only have a certain amount of time for blogging - otherwise, I'd never get any reading (or anything else) done. I'm always flattered when anyone says they like my blog, but the best award (or reward) they could give me would be just to let me know they're reading it. Leave me a comment on one of my posts. Or become a follower of my blog. I love my followers even more than I love awards!
