Monday Memes Week #1

MONDAY

Photobucket
Hosted by Miz B at Should Be Reading
WooHoo Miz B has decided to reinstate Musing Mondays!!
Thank you Miz B!!!

This week’s musing is a simple one to start off the new year…
How many books did you read in 2010? If you had a reading goal, did you meet it? What books are you most looking forward to reading for 2011 (either new, OR ones that have sat on your shelves for a while)?
I read 65 books in 2010.  I am disappointed with that number, however, I am thinking that I guess it isn't too bad since I had 2+ months that I didn't read due to my surgeries in April and then a slump in September/October.  I had signed up for the 2010 100+ Challenge, not expecting to finish it but seeing how close I could get, since this was my first year at blogging and reviewing and had never kept track of my books in the past.
For 2011, I am changing some of my reading habits.  I read like a robot in 2010, reading books in the order of receiving them, no matter what mood I was in.  In 2011 I will be taking the liberty of choosing books from my request pile, out of order, and also selecting books from my personal pile.  I think that was a reason for the slump I had in September.  However, I will be guaranteeing 3-4 ARCs a month.  So yes, there are quite a few books that are on my shelves that I can't wait to pick up.
Mailcheck
January is being hosted by Rose City Reader
Mailbox Monday was created by Marcia of The Printed Page and is now on tour.
According to Marcia, “Mailbox Monday is the gathering place for readers to share the books that came into their house last week. Warning: Mailbox Monday can lead to envy, toppling TBR piles and humongous wish lists.”
Before sharing my mailbox, I want to thank Rose City Reader for generously hosting this meme in January.
These were freebie downloads from Sony.

"Meet Me On Monday!"
Blogging is a funny thing...we tell our most intimate thoughts for all to read and yet most of the time I find myself sitting and wondering, "who is this person!?" I know them...but yet I don't know them! I want to know who the person is behind all those words so I thought of a great way for all of us to "meet" each other!
Every Sunday I will post five get to know you questions that you can copy and paste into your own Monday post and we can all learn a little more about each and every one of us!!
"Its a great way to to meet new friends and for others to get to know me better....one Monday at a time!!!"....as quoted by the Chacogirl!!

No laughing here. My bday is April 1st as well. I even had a teacher who wouldn't believe me in high school. I had to show him my driver's license. :) Good luck with your resolutions!

As best I could figure I think I read about 65 books this year also.

Don't even mention Diet, I hate the word. LOL... That's why I look the way I do.

I am not good at challenges, I only entered one, and thinking about another one, but they are easy, and shouldn't have a problem finishing them.

Happy Reading.

OMG, you had back surgery and cooked lobster? You're amazing! I think I STOPPED cooking after my back surgery...LOL. No, actually, my cooking in recent years has been microwaving and stovetop; sometimes grilling things. For company, I get takeout. I think it's a rebellion from all those years when I tried to be the Gourmet Queen...LOL.

Your downloaded books look good. Hope you enjoy them.

I'm glad Miz B reinstated Musing Mondays...I'm going over there to participate!

Have a great week. And here's my MM:

I did not receive any book this week too, like last week. A book famine, is it?

Wish you and your family a very Happy New Year. May 2011 filled with reading!

Here is my Monday: Mailbox/What Are You Reading? post!

I don't have any one book that I am looking forward to reading, there are quite a few.

Those are two great authors in your mailbox! Enjoy.

I read 57 and my goal was 50 so I'm happy. I could never read like that I'm a mood reader and it has to be for my pleasure.

Good luck with your goals.

Here is mine if interested.

Hi CMash,
I think 65 books is excellent! I read a whopping 83! I, too was in the 100+ book challenge last year and didn't make it, obviously. Every year for the last three years, I've crept up a little bit, though, so maybe 2011 will be my year. But I don't stress over it, because I want to really enjoy what I do get to read.

Good luck with your goals!

My due date with my first daughter was April 1 and truthfully, I was a little disappointed she wasn't born on that day. I think April 1 is an awesome birthdate. :)

Lobster dinner for New Year's sounds divine.

Wishing you a wonderful 2011! :)

Considering all you've been through this year, I'd say you had a wonderful year in books! Here's hoping 2011 is even better.

Wow - I'm impressed! 65 books is great. :) I too had a slow year (much slower than you though) due to medical problems, the birth of our second son, and life in general getting in the way while I was recovering from everything else.

Congrats on the two new Sony downloads - you must have a Sony eReader.

Here's my Mailbox! ~ Wendi

wait...did someone say lobster???
on the book numbers, you have to admit that more than a book a week is great!

Happy New Year, Cheryl!

I read (are you ready for it...) 203 books this year. I guess my goal was at least 100 (since I signed up for the 100+ Challenge in 2010). My husband thought that was alot until I told him that one of the bloggers I follow read over 800--she's a children's librarian and reads a great number of kids books, but still. 800. I'm looking forward to every book I have down for one of my (shhhh) twelve challenges. Hope they're all as good as I want them to be.

Good luck with your reading goals! I have to stop playing with my iPod and get back to reading! My mind is turning to mush! Wishing you a Happy New Year!
